LED Gauge Pod Conversion

This was done on a car 90-NA (without electronic climate control)

Difficulty from 1 to 10 (10 being the hardest) 3

Time to complete: About 15 minutes each pod.

Items needed

  • 9 – 3mm White (or color of preference) LED 5000mcd bulbs
  • 9 – 470 Ohm Carbon Film Resistor
  • Needle Nose Pliers
  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Flat Head Screwdriver


Removal

  1. Start Off by removing the phillips head screw on the bottom of each switch pod and then pull it out.

  2. Remove the wiring connector from the switch pod and move to the workbench to disasaemble.


Replacement

  1. Remove OEM bulb housing from pod

  2. Remove OEM bulb from housing

  3. OEM bulb will be replaced with 3mm LED bulb

  4. Attach LED negative (shorter leg) connection to housing the same way OEM was in.

  5. Attach LED positive (longer leg) connection to 470-Ohm carbon film resistor then finish connecting the resistor to the housing as OEM bulb.

  6. Here are all bulbs in the pod converted to LED
